Connie Fisher, winner of the BBCs quest to find Maria Von Trapp for the Sound of Music in Londons West End is to star in a new ITV television drama about a not-so-honest, but good-hearted Elvis fan
Picture the scene, Gemma Perkins, an unassuming parking meter attendant discovers that if she dips into the cash she collects from the meters she can fund her Elvis obsession.
Does this story sound familiar?
Obviously it is loosely based on the true story of Elvis fan Julie Wall who funded her Elvis collection by pilfering money from car parking charges collected in the council office where she worked as a cashier.
Last year, Julie Walls collection was auctioned in Derby. This was one of the most remarkable private collections and the haphazard organisation of the lots meant that enterprising Elvis fans came away with some incredible bargains.
Back to the ITV drama, entitled Caught In A Trap, do we get the feeling that the old stereotype of the obsessed Elvis fan will be making us all cringe behind our sofas?
