Ronnie Tutt, Drums

wpe09057.gif (48307 bytes)Ronnie Tutt is originally from Dallas, Texas. He studied music at the University of North Texas, played gigs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and held staff positions (drums and vocals) at two "jingle" studios. In 1963 he moved to Memphis.  In 1969 he auditioned for Elvis, who was putting together a band for his Las Vegas engagement. He got the job. Beyond talent as a drummer, what seemed to put him above the competition was his way of connecting with Elvis watching him, making eye contact, anticipating where Elvis was going with a song. Their "musical communication" was a key part of making a great show. From 1969 to 1977 he was Elvis'drummer on stage and on a number of recordings. For a long time Ronnie Tutt was a studio musician in Los Angeles, later relocating to wpe18839.gif (115797 bytes)Nashville. His work with Elvis is his most celebrated, but his list of recording credits with other legends of pop, rock, and country music is long. For several years he was part of the Jerry Garcia Band, doing albums and extensive touring. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Neil Diamond Band, recording and touring around the world. Tutt is endorsed by DW Drums, Paiste Cymbals and Calato/Regal Tip drumsticks.

The Production Team
Stig Edgren

wpe94493.gif (290913 bytes)Stig Edgren is one of the nation's foremost producers of special events and concert attractions. He has staged events for Pope John Paul 11, President Clintons Inauguration, President Reagan, Nelson Mandela and the XXIII Olympic Games. He has also produced concert acts for Gloria Estefan and Natalie Cole (producing the concert versions of Cole's famous video duets with her late father, Nat King Cole) , and for the groups Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire, and he has designed arena shows for artists ranging from Barry Manilow to Cher. Over the past six years Edgren has produced The Colors of Christmas, an annual concert tour that has become one of the country's most popular holiday attractions. Current projects include concert tours in Japan and Australia with such artists as James Ingram, Melissa Manchester, Sheena Easton, Brenda Russell and Peabo Bryson. His first collaboration with Graceland was in 1994 when he produced for them and the other companies involved, Elvis - The Tribute, an all-star concert at the Pyramid Arena in Memphis which was seen as a TV special on Pay-Per-View and ABC. Graceland later called upon Edgren to produce the historic Elvis in Concert '97 event at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the superstar's death. This production, using state-of-the-art video projection to reunite Elvis with a large cast of his former bandmates live in concert, has now been adapted into the touring show Elvis - The Concert, also produced by Edgren.

Other directing credits include Dick Clark's American Bandstand Classics Live and The Tennessee Bicentennial Celebration, which featured Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Carl Perkins, Brenda Lee, Isaac Hayes and The Nashville Symphony. For Aids Project Los Angeles (APLA), Johnson has directed a number of Commitment to Life evenings, including the 1995 event, featuring Elton John, Julie Andrews, Marianne Faithful, Little Richard, Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Sandra Bernhard, Nona Hendryx, Joni Mitchell and George Michael. Shanti; directing the tribute for his mentor, Joe Layton, at the Wiltem Theatre in Los Angeles, which featured Bette Midler; and directing President Ronald Reagan's 80th Birthday Gala at the Beverly ffilton. Theatrical producing credits include: The Normal Heart, with Richard Dreyfuss and Kathy Bates in Los Angeles and the off-Broadway hit and national tours of Always, Patsy Cline and the cast album of the play. In 1991, Johnson directed Tammy Wynett's live concert tour production featuring the international multi-platinum hit Justified and Ancient. Other tours include the Warner Brothers acts: Little Texas, Brady Seals, Anita Cochran, and currently staging the tour of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. In 1971, Johnson saw Elvis Presley in concert at the International Hotel in Las Vegas and says, "It changed my life forever." Johnson directed the historic Elvis in Concert '97 event in Memphis and reprises this role in the touring production. Elvis-The Concert.

Todd Morgan, Co-Producer

wpe57848.gif (155935 bytes)Todd Morgan spearheaded and co-produced the historic Elvis in Concert '97 event in Memphis on the twentieth anniversary of the singer's death, and now the touring show Elvis - The Concert. These projects evolved from several simpler "Elvis-interactive" shows Morgan coordinated with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.

Morgan went to work at Graceland as a tour guide in May 1983, the summer before his senior year at Ole Miss, just as Graceland was ending its first year of being open to the public. What was going to be just a one summer job adventure (his first summer not working on the family farm in Arkansas) turned into a career. After graduating with a marketing degree, he stayed at Graceland and got into management. In various incarnations over the years, he has worked in the public relations, marketing, archives, and creative areas of the company, and has been relied upon for his extensive knowledge of the life and career of Elvis Presley. Currently, he is the director of creative resources. In this capacity, Morgan frequently serves as a spokesperson for Graceland and helps direct the company's relationship with the news and entertainment media, but his primary role is to be an in-house creative and historical consultant for multiple areas of the company and to direct the work of Graceland's in-house creative/design staff. He tends to be integrally involved in the music, television, film, book, video and entertainment projects undertaken by Graceland on its own and in collaboration with other business entities.
