Fifty years ago today marked the saddest day in Elvis' life. Elvis, who had just joined the army, lost his beloved mother. Gladys died with Vernon by her side. Elvis was heartbroken and friends say he never fully recovered from that unbearable loss. Gladys was laid to rest on August 15
