Ernst Jorgensen: We Do Have The Elvis
Hayride show, live on stage, Saturday,
December 15, 1956.
Today Ernst
Jorgensen & Andylon Lensen discussed by
phone the issue on the statement made by Joe
Kent, owner of The Louisiana Hayride
Archives yesterday on EpGold.
Ernst, what is
your respond on this statement made by Joe
Kent?
As far as I
remember his statement is correct, Andylon
and yes FTD and Sony/BMG both are the owners
of the 12/15/56 Elvis Hayride show .
This is a
complete show on tape, I am only not sure if
the show runs exactly 35 minutes, guess I
need to check on this again.
Now when Joe
mentions "Sony would have to pay me as I own
the rights to all of Elvis Presley's Hayride
songs" , on this issue we have a different
opinion.
Ernst, does this
mean that after several years FTD and
Sony/BMG is the owner of 12/15/56 Elvis
Hayride show, there might be some thruth in
the comment made by Joe that it would most
likely stay in a vault?
No Andylon, the
problem is "How" to release this. Is it
commercial enough to release it for the big
market on Sony/BMG?At this moment we are
afraid not, plus the fact it is a show for
30 - 35 minutes in a reasonable radio sound
that needs an upgrade.
You could
release it on a FTD book & CD Ernst - Why
not?
Well, of course
I am all for it that this show must be
shared with the ElvisFans, but at this
moment there's been so much Public domain
releases from Elvis in the 50's on Sun and
loads and loads of 56 -57 budget Cd's for a
couple of Euro's - The Artist Elvis has
become a cheap product! So, we really have
to find a concept on the right time and
circumstances.
Mind you, I have
a full job at Sony/BMG and can only work on
the FTD label in my spare time and that is
in the weekend from Friday evening till
Sunday.
And a lot of my
spare time is now used to finish the FTD Sun
-project - this is personally my biggest
goal and get it released end of this year!
After that, I
would love to do a "day by day" calender
photo book on Elvis in 1956 and if possible
later on 1957 with the same concept, with
the help of Brian Petersen (Author of the
book "The Atomic Powered Singer) and of
course you, Andylon with the tons of crazy
and rare pictures you shared with me from
your private archives.
Anyway, at this
moment we are back on track in the 70's to
work on the new FTD releases of the That's
the way it is recordings and hopefully after
the problem we have is solved with the
"Publishing - Copyrights" - releasing new
Soundboards on FTD, this must be a relief
for a lot of 70's ElvisFans.
