Elvis Remembered It was a sad reflection as so many Irish Radio Station paid lipservice to the memory of the undisputed king of rock and roll. Terrestrial television stations on both sides of the Irish Sea failed abysmally to mark the occasion with the T.C.M. movie channel on Sky coming up trumps by screening Elvis classics all day long. On the other hand Cois Farraige it was true nostalgia time and a great night was held by all who attended the 29th Elvis Presley Anniversary tribute held in OSheas Hotel on Wednesday 16th August. All generations gathered to sing along to the music. Tom Rocky Mils was as ever most obliging and sang every request that was made of him. It was a real lap of honour when Tom took his customary stroll down among the capacity audience. It brought to mind the tribute paid by a contented fan of a previous gig - The Metal Man may be out of bounds, but we still have in Rocky a tourist attraction accessible to all. A visitor from Dublin seeing To in action for the very first time couldnt get over the five euro cover charge as he would have to fork out twenty euro or more at a similar tribute in the capital. Elvis Remembered For older fans it was a trip down memory lane when almost fifty years ago they cycled to Tramore and Tom entertained them in the good old day of the Rex Cinema with his rendition of the latest hits from the king of rock and roll. Decades later, Rocky held the fortunate audience spellbound to ensure that the wonderful memories linger on. To recall the words of a wide eyed young fan seven years back You were a really great singer when you were alive. On a night when the silver furlong at the seafront became pure gold the message was Rock On Tommy and many, many thanks from all your loyal fans for a night to remember.
