Joey Brewer, owner of The Blue Suede Shoe Bed and Breakfast, Catering and Gifts, auctioned his property, located at 501 Elvis Presley Drive in Tupelo, Mississippi, on eBay.
According to a press release issued at the time the property was auctioned in early 2005, Brewer bought the property in hopes of renovating and moulding the split-level home on approximately 2 acres to offer a comfortable bed and breakfast to devout Elvis fans.
According to the listing which was posted on eBay, the home includes four bedrooms and two and a half baths. The renovated master bath includes a tile shower, sunken Jacuzzi tub, and double vanity.
"This property is located across the street from where over 100,000 registered visitors come yearly and stand in awe of how a small Mississippian, born in a one room home, influenced the sound of music forever," Brewer said in the release.
"There's only one other bed and breakfast in town," Brewer added. "Not everyone can stay there due to space constraints. This will be a perfect location for a bed and breakfast and gift shop."
Brewer said he decided to auction the property on eBay because he didn't think it would get enough exposure through a traditional sale. "I felt that a realtor was not going to give the exposure that this idea needs," he said in the release. "Elvis is known worldwide, and I wanted to provide an opportunity of purchase to Elvis fans abroad."
The initial bid for the property was set at $325,000.
