15
years after Vernon, Gladys and Elvis left Tupelo,
hoping for a better life in Memphis, Vernon returned
to the birth house of Elvis, the house that he
had built with his bare hands. On that occasion in
the early sixties, Albert Hand rode with Vernon to
Tupelo. It's that report that we made available on
the member's area, together with a picture of Vernon
taken that day, on the steps of the birth house.
PICTURE: The birth house in
1956, note the (now disappeared) neighbouring house
that was noticeable bigger than the Presley
shotgun-house.
